Regional Evaluation Meeting
The Regional Evaluation Meeting of NDS was held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 11:00 AM at the NDS Regional Office. NDS Director, Fr. Binoy Kassamkuttyil, presided over the meeting. The Activity Coordinators of the NDS Vimalagiri, Bospara, Kayyunni, Kalpra, Dharmagiri, and Periyashola units for the year 2025–26 presented the reports of their respective units alongside the accounts of the Credit Union. The Achan expressed the region’s congratulations to the units, highlighting the excellent work carried out by each. He once again emphasized the contributions made by NDS to the comprehensive economic, cultural, social, and educational development of the members and families of each unit, instructing the office bearers to continue the activities of NDS in this manner in the future as well.
Farewell meeting for Fr. Binoy Kassamkuttiyil
Rev. Fr. Binoy Kassamkuttiyil, who has served as the Director of NDS for the last 10 years and is now trasfered, was given a farewell by the units at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. Nilgiri Regional Director, Fr. Biju Ponparakkal, presided over the meeting. During the gathering, Binoy Achan recalled his time and work as the NDS Director, expressing his gratitude to everyone. In turn, Fr. Biju Ponparakkal, along with representatives from the NDS Dharmagiri, Kalpra, Bospara, Kayyunni, and Vimalagiri units, thanked Fr. Binoy for his dedicated service and wished him well in his future endeavors.
Hearty Welcome to Fr. Nishwin Thenpallil
Rev. Fr. Nishwin Thenpallil, who was appointed as the new Director of Nilgiris Development Society, gave a warm welcome to NDS on 16.05.2026. NDS Director Fr. Binoy Kassamkuttiyil received him with flowers. Then the Director seated him in the Director’s office and assigned him responsibilities.
NDS Governing Body Meeting
NDS Governing body was meeting was conducted on 25.05.2026 at NDS Office Gudalur. NDS Preseident Rev .Fr. Paul Mundolickal presided over the meeting. NDS Secretary Rev. Fr. Binoy K Sebastian presented the Annual Report and Annual Accounts of the year 2025-2026. All the governing body members participated in the meeting.
International World Environment Day: 05 June 2026
World Environment Day 2026 mobilizes commitment, action to end plastic pollution globally. Plastic pollution permeates every corner of the planet. By 2040, plastic leakage to the environment is predicted to grow by 50 per cent, and that pollution creeps into our bodies through the food we eat, the water we drink, and even the air that we breathe. World Environment Day 2026 calls for collective action to tackle plastic pollution. By drawing inspiration from nature and showcasing real-world solutions, NDS adviced its members to adopt sustainable practices that drive systemic change.
Mekhala Director Visit at NDS Units
NDS Regional Director, Fr. Nishwin T. Thomas, and NDS Project Coordinator, Joshy T. P., visited the NDS Dharmagiri and NDS Bospara units. Both units extended a warm welcome to Fr. Nishwin. During the visit, they attended the evaluation meetings of the Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and evaluated the various programs and activities being carried out by the units.
Housing project
Under the leadership of NDS and with the financial assistance of WSSS, the construction of two houses for two needy families in Dharmagiri parish, Madhathikunnel Binu and Kathulil Xavier, was completed and the new houses were inaugurated by NDS Director Fr. Binoy Kassamkuttyil and Dharmagiri Parish Vicar Fr. Biju Thuruthel. NDS would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to all the well-wishers who helped financially and by purchasing materials for the construction of these houses, and especially to WSSS Director Fr. Jinoj Palathadathil.
SAFP – FDP Project Information Collection
In preparation for the implementation of the Family Development Project, which is part of the Save a Family Program, in the Nilgiris under the auspices of NDS, initial data collection and site visits were conducted under the leadership of SAFP-CDP Manager Mr. Jayakrishnan to identify suitable beneficiaries of this project. They visited Arattupara, Ellamala, Periyashola, Choondi, Kamaraj Nagar, Dharmagiri, Chelivayal, Nadukani, Devala, Nellakotta, Devarshola, Srimadura, Vimalagiri, Thorappally, and Toppakad areas of Gudalur taluk and Uppatti, Ponnani, Nellialam, Kunnaladi, Kottad, and Kalpra areas of Pantallur taluk, held meetings in NDS units, spoke to members, talked about projects under SAFP, and studied the possibilities of implementing the project. NDS Director Fr. Binoy Kassamkuttiyil and Project Co ordinator Joshy T PLed the program.
